What is Vertical Shaft Impact Crusher?

The vertical shaft impact crusher utilizes the self-crushing and friction between materials during high-speed rotation (stone-on-stone crushing), making it suitable for coarse and fine crushing of extra-hard, medium-hard, and abrasive materials. This machine is applicable to crushing hundreds of highly abrasive materials, including iron ore, copper ore, gold and silver ore, molybdenum ore, lead-zinc ore, tungsten ore, manganese ore, raw materials, refractory materials, ceramics, building sand, corundum, talc, olivine rock salt, fluorite, limestone, and silicon carbide steel slag. This machine is an energy-saving and material-saving high-efficiency crushing device.

Deep Cavity Rotor

Increases throughput by 30%+ and efficiency by up to 50% via optimized flow, ensuring high-capacity stable production.

Dual Crushing Modes

Flexible "stone-on-stone/iron" switching handles abrasive materials while delivering superior rounded sand particles for construction standards.

Advanced Lubrication

Dual-pump thin oil station ensures 24/7 stable operation and optimal bearing protection under extreme heat and loads.

Hydraulic Maintenance

Hydraulic lifting cover allows one-man access, slashing maintenance time and equipment downtime by 60%.

Eco-Friendly Design

Internal air self-circulation and labyrinth seals minimize dust leakage, protecting components and meeting strict environmental standards.

What is the working principle of the Vertical Shaft Impact Crusher?

◎ Center Feeding (Stone-on-Iron)
Material enters the center feed hole, enters a high-speed rotating impeller, and is accelerated (tens of times gravity). It is then ejected, colliding first with freely falling material, then with the impact block. The material rebounds upward, changes direction, and collides again with ejected material, forming a continuous curtain. Crushed material discharges from the bottom.

Waterfall-style with Center Feed (Stone-on-Stone)
Material is divided by a distributor: one part goes into the impeller, is accelerated (hundreds of times gravity), and ejected at 60–70 m/s from three channels. It first collides with material falling around the distributor, then impacts the material lining in the vortex chamber, rebounds, and strikes the top, changing direction. Multiple impacts, friction, and grinding occur in a closed-loop cycle. Finished size controlled by screening (e.g., below 20 mesh after three cycles). No metal contact—material self-crushing reduces angular contamination and extends wear life. Airflow self-circulation eliminates dust.

Advantages of Jiaozuo Zhongxin Heavy Industry's Vertical Shaft Impact Crusher and Reasons to Choose Us

◎The bearing housing is machined using specialized processes to ensure an inner bore roughness below 0.4 mm and coaxiality between the upper and lower bearing inner bores within 0.01 mm, preventing bearing damage due to misalignment.

◎ The main shaft blank is made of forged alloy structural steel, undergoes two flaw detection processes, and is finally machined on a grinding machine to ensure the main shaft's form and position tolerances, surface roughness, and dimensions.

◎ The sealing sleeve that mates with the main shaft oil seal undergoes a special heat treatment process, achieving a surface hardness of 50 HRC, a level not yet achieved by domestic competitors. This significantly reduces main shaft wear and extends the service life of the main shaft.

◎The frame is connected using high-strength torsion-shear bolts, which offer better strength than traditional rivet connections, ensuring frame stability.

◎ The upper and lower workpieces fixing the spindle are manufactured using specific processes to ensure coaxiality within the machine. This guarantees the spindle is installed vertically, improving overall machine stability during operation.

◎Each component undergoes special manufacturing processes to meet specific requirements, and each process is strictly controlled by quality inspectors.

◎The company has an experienced after-sales team capable of promptly and professionally resolving problems that arise during production.

From individual machines to mobile crushing units and complete processing plants, our solutions are designed to meet diverse production needs, supported by professional technical service and reliable after-sales support.

Common Problems

This section is designed to address the most pressing inquiries customers may have regarding the daily operation, maintenance, product advantages, and after-sales service of our crushing and screening equipment. Our aim is to help you gain a comprehensive understanding of our overall capabilities and enable you to make informed decisions for your projects.

Material blockage is often caused by excessively high material moisture content (>8%), excessive feed particle size, or excessively fast feeding speed. Solutions: Immediately stop the machine and clean the crushing chamber; control the feed moisture content to below 5%; use a graded feeding system to avoid instantaneous overload; if necessary, install a drying device to pre-treat wet materials.

Yes, long-term severe vibration will accelerate fatigue damage to bearings, main shaft, and frame. The root cause is impeller dynamic imbalance, commonly seen in uneven wear of wear-resistant blocks or foreign object jamming. Solution: After stopping the machine, disassemble the impeller, replace worn parts, and perform dynamic balancing; regularly check the feed particle size to avoid impact from large pieces of material.

Excessive bearing temperature indicates lubrication failure or foreign object intrusion. The machine should be stopped immediately. Check for damaged oil seals, emulsified or dried-out lubricating oil; clean the dust inside the bearing cavity and replace with high-temperature lithium-based grease (such as NLGI 2 grade); if the temperature is still abnormal, the bearings and sealing components need to be replaced.

Coarsening of the particle size is usually due to a decrease in impeller speed or wear of the liner. Solution: First, check the tension of the drive V-belt to ensure there is no slippage; second, measure the actual impeller speed and adjust the motor frequency converter to the rated value (generally 2000–2600 r/min); finally, replace the excessively worn liners and impact blocks to restore the crushing gap.

This is a serious malfunction symptom, often caused by broken rotor bolts, detached liners, or broken impeller blades. Power must be cut off and the machine stopped immediately; operation with this malfunction is strictly prohibited. The inspection includes: the tightness of all connecting bolts, the integrity of the rotor body, and the fixing of the liner plates; after replacing damaged parts, a no-load test run must be performed and the vibration value must be monitored.

This is usually caused by "material circulation imbalance" or "wear on the distribution plate." Solution: First, check if the distribution plate (material distribution disc) is excessively worn or misaligned. This can prevent material from accurately entering the impeller center, reducing crushing efficiency. Second, check the overflow ratio (the ratio of material directly falling into the crushing chamber to material entering the impeller). It is recommended to adjust the height of the central feed pipe to control the overflow ratio between 15% and 30% to form a stable "stone-on-stone" lining protection.

Oil leakage is usually caused by damage to the skeleton oil seal, wear of the main shaft bushing, or excessive lubrication pressure. Solution: After shutdown, check the oil seal sealing under the bearing housing. If the rubber is hardened or cracked, replace it immediately. Simultaneously check the return oil line for blockages. Obstructed return oil can cause excessive pressure in the bearing cavity, forcing open the oil seal. If oil leakage persists after replacing the oil seal, check the coaxiality of the main shaft to prevent seal failure due to shaft eccentricity and vibration.

Uneven wear of the material throwing heads is mostly caused by "eccentric feeding," while breakage is often accompanied by the introduction of metal debris. Solution: Adjust the feed inlet position to ensure the material falls vertically and evenly into the center of the distribution hopper; periodically rotate the material throwing heads (turn them around for use) to extend their overall lifespan. Regarding the breakage problem, a high-strength magnetic separator must be installed at the end of the feed conveyor to prevent uncrushable objects such as iron blocks and alloy steel heads from entering the high-speed impeller; otherwise, there is a high risk of explosion.
